Zi (子林) creates vibrant worlds and portals, leading viewers back to their forgotten kinship with the natural world.
Her art serves as a gentle reminder that we aren't just connected to nature—we are nature, wearing human clothes. Zi's work invites viewers to remove those clothes, metaphorically speaking, and remember what it feels like to be as alive as a thunderstorm, as ancient as a mountain, and as a playful flower, dancing under the sunlight.
Artist philosophy
Through my work, I seek to dissolve our imagined boundaries and sense of ‘separateness’ to each other and every part of the natural world.
Rediscovering Wonder
My vibrant colour palettes and seemingly otherworldly landscapes are deliberate invitations to rediscover enchantment in our immediate surroundings. These are not fantasies but rather revelations of what already exists when we view things through a different lens.
Imbuing with Emotion
Each piece begins with an emotion/feeling that I paint in Chinese characters as a base layer. Feelings that I’m focusing on expanding or releasing, embracing the only constant - change and evolution.
